Celebrity Style from your Wrist Watch
Many people are into the latest fashions and trends, look for the next fashion niche and are constantly updating their wardrobes with the latest styles. A lot of young women and men have a celebrity, an actress, actor or a pop star whose fashion sense they admire and sometimes like to mirror and mimic or choose subtle influences and incorporate them into their own wardrobe. Whether this be through the main body of the outfit, such as the same jeans or dress, of through similar accessories such as shoes, handbags, jewellery or most recently wrist watches are being promoted more and more by film stars.
Watches can be seen as an item of luxury and great exuberance with prices varying from that of a sandwich to costing more than a car or a house. Rap and Hip Hop stars tend to opt for the rarer or completely custom pieces, usually encrusted with numerous jewels, gold and platinum. This is seen as a trophy of wealth and how successful they are as they can afford such a vast amount on something so small and relatively insignificant. Some other celebrities base their watch choices on models they like, ones which can be worn at different occasions and of course some watches are given by watch makers for free, as gifts but really amount to free advertising due to the newspapers and press picking up on the story that Keanu Reeves is wearing a new Oris.
Brand promotion via free watches is a tactic employed by Oris recently who has been smothering celebrities with free gifts of watches in order to get their names in the paper , such celebrities include Keanu Reeves, The Sopranos, Meg Ryan, Sam Neill, Oliver Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mathew McConaughey, Nicholas Cage, Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Julianne Moore. Some have been featured out and about wearing the watch which some have been featured within the actually films or programmes.
While wearing a watch similar to that of a celebrity is a great fashion statement it is considerably more expensive than a similar pair or shoes or some new jeans. Copying watches is more for those will spare cash flooding the pockets as each piece can be very expansive and not very recognisable as to which celebrity you are idolising. We recommend owning a nice watch though, one that has a quality movement and feels heavy on the wrist is a great feeling and only one that can be achieved by owning a quality timepiece.
